This quick tip shows you how to unassign a macro from an object in Excel.

In part of this lesson, you may see the term right-click. This means, click on the button on the right side of the mouse.

If you do not have a right mouse button, then you can use click on the object and press keyboard shortcut Shift-F10. Basically, Shift-F10 shows the shortcut menu.

Steps to unassign a macro from an object in Excel

Follow the steps below to remove the assignment of a macro from an object.

  1. Firstly, right-click on the object that contains the macro. Similarly, you can click on the object and press Shift-F10. After that, the shortcut menu appears.
  2. And, select Assign Macro... from the shortcut menu. The Assign Macro dialog box opens.

Steps 3 and 4 - Assign macro

  1. In the Assign Macro dialog box, delete the contents in the Macro name: box.
  2. Click OK.
